ASUU, the FG and us

My last two first semester exam papers that was to go through Friday and Saturday was cut short indefinitely by the ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities) strike. The strike had started Wednesday but since we were at exams we thought we weren't going to join. After a sleepless night in preparation for the next day's paper, Friday however saw us with a circular at a senate that the school has been resheduled to close 29th (the previous day - Thursday, instead of Saturday 31st) and that all remaining papers for the exams will be done at the commencement of the second semester  of which the date will be announced 'as at when due'.
But is ASUU to be blamed for protecting the interest of their members and trying to communicate with the FG for 2 years? 'Short and Sharp' (The Nation, Thursday March 29, 2007, backpage) was right to say 'the government it seems has been on strike for the past 2 years and ASUU has just joined'. But then, between the FG and ASUU, where do we students stand? All indications shows a low probability of we resuming before the elections. I can only pray this doesn't turn another six months journey. Well, till we are called back, for me, its back to my web designing.

In search of Glo's GPRS settings

Ever since early ds year when Glo's gprs surfaced back in school, Ive been trying to activate the gprs settings on my sim. I av activated d settings on my phone (from the wap configurator on sonyericsson.com/support) sometime ago but that only gave me a half GRPS bar that cant be worked wt. After calling the customer care (121->1) a thousand and one times to no avail, i decide to try calling at night. Fortunately enough, the call went through but 'All operators are (were) currently busy' so I was entertained with music and some voice over ads. Some 18 min later, an operator finally picked up and I explained things to him. He stressed I must av at least N100 on my credit before I can activate d feature. 'And au do I activate when I av the money?', I had asked but he went phut.
'Hello.......can you hear me? are u there?', I asked and he did answer he can hear me. But repeating my question, he went silent again. This went on for some minutes till I finally got fed up and have to hang up.
I wonder why Glo's GPRS settings should be that hard to get. The last time I had to urgentlly check my email, I had simply switched to my mum's MTN sim and almost immediately, the GPRS settings was automatically sent - without me even requesting for it.
Well, I think I have run out of patience waiting for Glo's GPRS settings. By the time you are reading this, I might have probably gotten myself a MTN sim.

The Next Trick?

Some months ago, as I made out of the bank, a young guy hurried after me. I had met him in the bank, sitting gently, when I walked in. And I had greeted him with a slight nod. He was around my age - 20 or a bit more. Even when I cashed out and made out of the bank, he was still sitting gently, observing me with one corner of his eyes.
I paused as he followed me, my instinct telling me he wanted me.
'Sorry Bros', he said as he got near.
'Hmmm...I have a little problem and I hope you should be able to help me.', he started. 'I have to come here from school - FUTA - this morning expecting some money and hoping I will catch it. But unfortunately, I was told in bank that the money is not yet in. More unfortunately, I have no more money on me because I never could expect I was going to leave here empty handed. Please bros, even if it is the money that will take me back to school give me'.
His story felt pathetic. I had every reason to believe him even though his face wasnt familiar. For a small school like FUTA with a population not close to 10,000 students, you sure must have come across every student and should be able to tell a FUTARIAN apart. He doesnt look close to someone I have seen anywhere before but then out of passion i gave him something quite worth it.
Today, as I hurried to town from school, another young lad had approached me just before North Gate telling me just almost exactly what the guy I had met in bank said. I couldnt help but observe him for a couple of moments. He wasn't actually the same guy but why must he say the same thing. Then it was then it occured to me that may be the next trick to obtain money from people and that all what that other guy at the bank said the other day might have been a lie afterall.
'Im sorry, I wish I cant help...but it's just unfortunate I can't at the moment', I said sympathetically and made away. Is that the next trick...or was I wrong?

When it pays to wait

Branched by an eatry in town this afternoon to have myself a little treat. As I ordered a cup of cream, two cute girls walked up behind me to make their order. I recognize them immediately as a futarian (student of my instituion) but pretend not to notice them. I however have it in mind that if they happen to make their order before me, I will simply walk up to them, ask if I may join them (which I'm sure they will accept) and chat with them. And if I happen to be through before them, sit somewhere and join them later when they are through.
Fortunately and unfortunately, I was through before them and took a sit somewhere in a corner. No sooner, they walked by and took the set of sits next to me. While I was silently making the choice of if to go or not, a man close enough to be my dad appeared from no where and joined them. From the way they talked, it seem he was the one who brought them. But what he was to them, I dont know. Did I hear you say a s***r dady? Na you talk am oh...no be me!
Well, thank God I have not been too hasty to join the girls.

PROFFESIONAL LOVE LETTER..

Sweetheart, I've seen you yesterday while surfing on local train platform and realised that you are the only site I was browsing for.
For long time,I've been lonely, this has been the bug in my life and you can be a real debugger for me now. My life is just uncompiled program without you which never produces an executable code and hence is useless.

You are not only beautiful by face but all your ActiveX controls are attractive as well. Your smile is so delightful which encourages me and gives power to me equal to thousands of mainframes processing power
When you looked at me last evening, I felt like all my program modules are running smoothly and giving expected results. /* which I never experienced before */.

With this letter,I just want to convey you that, if we are linked together,I'll provide you all objects & libraries necessary for human being to live a error free life. Also don't bother about the firewall which may be created by our parents as I've strong hacking capabilities by which I'll ultimately break their security passwords and make them agree for our marriage.
I anticipate that nobody has already logged in to your database so that my connect script will fail. And its all certain that if this happened to me, my system will crash beyond recovery.

Kindly interpret this letter properly and grant me all privileges of your inbox.

How to recruit the right person

How To Recruit The Right Person For The Job? Put about 100 bricks in no particular order in a closed room with an open window. Then send 2 or 3 candidates in the room and close the door. Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours and then analyze the situation. If they are counting the bricks, put them in the Accounts Department. If they are recounting them, put them in Auditing. If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, put them in Engineering. If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, put them in Planning. If they are throwing the bricks at each other, put them in Operations. If they are sleeping, put them in Security. If they have broken the bricks into pieces, put them in Information Technology
